The Kokoda Trail is as significant to the history of Australia as Gallipoli. Kokoda is now iconic, a symbol of the remarkable values our soldiers displayed of mateship, courage, endurance and sacrifice. These are basic values that all Australians can aspire to as part of the true defining character of an “Aussie”. The privileged life we all enjoy today in Australia is due in no small way to the heroism of the men and women who fought and died in foreign battlefields including New Guinea and along the Kokoda Track.

Back Track Adventures, provides a sensible itinerary and approach to trekking the famous war time Kokoda Trail.
Our objective is to ensure every trekker enjoys their trek. Your Australian Trek Leader and PNG Trek Crew provide a meaningful insight to the culture of the people who live in the areas we visit. Back Track trekkers receive accurate and detailed briefings at all the significant war sites along the entire KokodaTrack and enjoy a fun, safe bushwalking experience that is environmentally sensitive.
Your safety and well being throughout is important to us and great care is placed on ensuring we trek safely. We recognise that for most trekkers completing the Track will be a significant mental and physical challenge and our Trek Leaders will make a big difference in providing a supportive environment.
Our itinerary is arranged so we can meet each days objective at a relaxed pace. We pride ourselves on our pre trip assistance and advice.
We also offer special Anzac Day treks, and special Anniversary treks commemorating the Battle at Isurava, the Battle at Brigade Hill and new for 2010 trekking season, The Kokoda Anniversary trek. We will be at Kokoda Station on November 3rd to commemorate the recapture of Kokoda and the historic raising of the Australian flag.
Beware: trekking with Back Track is addictive. Next year you could be back with us trekking Kilimanjaro, trekking in Nepal or experiencing other Australian war sites.
